CHAMBER CONCERT @ The Fan Museum
Time & Location
About the Event
Join us for a morning of chamber music at the beautiful Fan Museum on Crooms Hill.
Located in two beautifully restored Grade II listed Georgian town houses, designed by John Savery in 1721, The Fan Museum is the world’s first museum dedicated to the history of fans and the craft of fan making. The renowned collection of fans and fan leaves is comprehensive and the elegant Orangery includes fine murals by Jane Barraclough.
Helene Alexander is the Director and Founder of The Fan Museum and will give a short introduction to the classical scenes depicted in the fans of the time. Followed by a concert featuring arias from 18th Century opera: Purcell, Handel to Mozart - Dido & Aeneas.
The performance will begin at 11am promptly and we suggest an early arrival to settle in. Refreshments will be available between 10:30 + 10:50. The concert will run for approximately one hour and we invite to explore the incredible collection after the performance.
